Recently my photos examine our society's fixation on cars and the ways in which we have built our lives around them. We have erected multi-billion dollar infrastructure on precious public space and valuable city property exclusively for cars to pass or park. Every urban plan or design choice seems to have been made to accomodate cars and not people. I find these spaces, that so often lie vacant, curious, strange, and when they're in dialogue with humanity, really beautiful. The current title for the work is Carchitechture.

When I moved back to California I was struck by how much "car culture" I saw. Do cars actually improve our lives? What could the space taken by a parking lot otherwise be used for? What would happen if we invested more in housing or public transportation? These are some of the questions I've been interested to explore through photography.
